Just Getting Started: Chanel Camryn vows not to rest on her laurels after winning Best New Starlet award

Spiegler girl was back on set less than 48 hours after accepting AVN trophy

Chanel Camryn hasn’t exactly been basking in glory since winning AVN’s coveted Best New Starlet award Saturday at Resorts World in Las Vegas.

Instead, less than 48 hours later, Camryn did the exact same thing that earned her the trophy in the first place.

She went to work.

Her voice still raspy from a post-ceremony nightclub celebration that crept into Sunday morning, Camryn woke up early Monday in Woodland Hills, drove wearily to Mike Quasar’s Mile High set and then flipped the switch for what Camryn dubbed “one of the most high-energy scenes” of her career, a threesome with Millie Morgan and Will Pounder.

The following day she performed in a solo scene for Adult Time.

“I ripped my pussy on set yesterday,” Camryn told PornCrush Tuesday morning. “But I’m going to fuck myself for 15 minutes with a dildo today, because I know I can do it.”

The fact that Camryn returned to the grind just two days after her biggest achievement to date will hardly surprise those who have trekked her career. Her work ethic, professionalism and reliability are among the biggest reasons she was a top candidate for Best New Starlet to begin with.

In fact, when it comes to studio shoots, one could argue that Camryn has been the hardest-working model in all of porn since her debut in April 2022.

Camryn entered awards season having shot 221 career scenes—an average of nearly 11 per month over the past 21 months. There have been times, Camryn said, when shot as many as 25 scenes in one month, an almost unfathomable number.

“It’s all about loving what I do,” Camryn said. “I love being on set. I love being around people. That’s my social hour. I don’t like big events where there's a lot of people, but I love the little family moments that we have on set. When I had to take a month off because I was injured, I couldn’t wait to get back on set.”

Rare are the times when Camryn cancels a scene or shows up distracted or off of her game. She even shot her first-ever gang bang while battling food poisoning. The scene was among many signature moments for Camryn in 2023. Along with garnering more bookings for dialogue-driven roles, Camryn also added anal to her menu last winter and has since become one of porn’s better backdoor performers.

And, of course, Camryn is known for her quivering orgasms, which almost always occur multiple times per scene.

“It wasn’t necessarily that I was (driven) to win this award,” Camryn said. “I just wanted to push myself to be the best I could be.

“What gets me through the hard days is telling myself that I can survive 45 minutes of anything. I tell myself, ‘You can do it. Your sex scene is only going to be 45 minutes long, and you can survive 45 minutes of anything.’ That’s gotten me through some really intense anal scenes and days when I wanted to crawl into a hole and die.”

Camryn also told PornCrush that settling into a certain mentality away from set has helped bring balance and peace to her career while reducing stress.

“When I get home,” Camryn said, “I don’t put too much pressure on myself anymore. I don’t make myself clean or go get groceries if I don’t feel like it. I pamper myself if I’ve been working. I’ll tell myself, ‘You just made more money than most people make in a week. You also did something most people can’t do. You’re allowed to sit on your ass if you want to.’”

Camryn’s approach certainly worked, with everything culminating at Saturday’s AVN ceremony on a night she’ll never forget. As big of a thrill as it was to hear her name announced as the winner, the reaction of her peers made the achievement even more special. Camryn said almost every other Best New Starlet nominee congratulated her in person or via text along with scores of other colleagues and industry executives.

“Everyone seems very happy for me,” she said. "They all keep telling me how much I deserve it. They’re like, ‘You fucking deserve it. You’ve worked your ass off. I’m so happy for you.’

“I don’t think there were any nominees who didn’t deserve it. Willow Ryder had a great entry into the industry and Scarlett Alexis has done so well. But everyone has been so, so nice. Almost all of the other girls who were nominated have been so sweet. It’s one thing for other people to come and say congratulations. But for all of the girls who were nominated to reach out and say congratulations and tell me they think I deserved it, that means a lot, too.”

Camryn said she was so overcome with emotion that she hurried out of the theater within seconds of the event’s conclusion so she could collect herself in private. Eventually, she shared a heartfelt moment with her agent, Mark Spiegler, who was in tears as he approached her outside a restaurant near the casino floor. Spiegler was accompanied by his assistant and booking agent, George Jiries.

“We hugged and we cried,” Camryn said. “I don’t think I let him go for a few minutes. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. They gave me the material and it was my job to do something with it. I’m so happy that I didn’t disappoint them.

“I think what makes Spiegler so happy is that he takes these girls because he sees their potential. But then it’s always a matter of whether they’ll live up to that potential, and that’s why he’s so hard on them. He loves us and he wants us to do better, because he knows we can.”

Camryn realizes that many past Best New Starlets have scaled back their bookings after winning the award, which caused their careers to stall. Camryn, though, vows she will trend in the opposite direction, as Saturday’s honor has her feeling more motivated than ever.

“Because of how hard I’ve worked, this is fueling me to do even more,” Camryn said. “If I wouldn’t have won, I may have taken a small step back this year, just because I’m tired and my body hurts. I just want to take a little more time to myself.

“Still, I have a hard time taking time off because I’m such a workaholic. So I’m definitely excited to do some crazy shit and have another astonishing year—but just for me, and not some crazy other reason. I don’t really care about trying to get nominated for Female Performer of the Year next year. I’ve got plenty of time. This was the one where you only get one opportunity. You only get it once. Anything after this, it’s whatever happens happens.”

As for her immediate future, Camryn actually is considering taking a few days off for the first time in months to recharge. Before she left to do her solo shoot with Adult Time Tuesday morning, she told PornCrush it would be her last gig of the week so she could rest and recover.

A few hours later, though, she sent a text.

“Just took another scene for tomorrow,” it read with smiley face emoji.

The AVN Awards are an inexact science. It’s a guessing game full of hits and misses. But in 2024, when selecting the category of Best New Starlet, the voters definitely got it right.
